| Abstract: | In 1997, steel products market has such basic characteristics as huge capacity, further growth in production, rising consumption, basically balanced supply and demand and more intense market competition as well as slightly rising general level of price within stability. In terms of total volume of supply and demand, the consumption will reach 0.1026 billion tons, surpassing 0.1 billion tons for the first time, with the range of growth wider than that in 1996 while the output of steel products reaches 88.50 million tons. It is estimated that the net import of over 10 million tons of steel products can satisfy the demand or less than that if the potential of production growth is considered in 1997. The prices of steel products will be generally stable and rise moderately in that year. |
