Abstract:For centuries gold was a synonym for everything valuable. Today, however, it seems to have lost its lustre, at least for investors. However, other precious metals, such as platinum and palladium, continue to be in high demand. While gold continues to lose its lustre, white metals are enjoying exceptional strength. For centuries gold enjoyed a high premium because of its scarce supply. But in more recent years, the yellow metal's status is increasingly becoming like that of any other commodity - suffering from ballooning stocks.
