| Abstract: | For the better part of this century, organizational theory and specifically bureaucracy theory, has been presented as if it were gender-neutral. Hundreds of authors have discussed organizational behavior, whether they were describing rational, natural, or open systems, as if the processes and structures they were disclosing were universalistic and somehow immune from cultural and gender influences. This is the introduction to the special issue. |
