Abstract: | Card-based payments were made originally only with credit cards and later with debit cards. A great deal of payments were made at a staffed points of sale. This meant the validatation could be made at these points. Later, it was recognized that experienced staff could spot misuse better than computers. Today , the position is changing. All kinds of automation with unstaffed sales points payments or even payments by Internet are used. In the article, payment methods, electronic purses, on-line shopping, ATMs, and implications in the future are presented. |
