| Abstract: | For those companies that acquired an UMTS license, the introduction of new and profitable UMTS-based Services is a crucial step for their economic survival. Up to now, amongst those companies there is a significant lack of unity regarding the question which new services based on the higher capacity and better performance of the UMTS network might be appealing for potential customers. Often the basic technologies related to UMTS - mobile communication and the internet - and the existing killer applications that are based on these technologies are supposed to prevail in the new infrastructure and to ensure the attractiveness and economic success of UMTS-based services. However a focus on those applications is by far too narrow due to the technological potential of the new network infrastructure (original in German). |
