Abstract:Loyalty in rural tourism has not yet been widely studied. As tourist loyalty is an important maintainer of solid customer base, the article aims to explore the subject using structural equation modeling. The authors identify instruments and conduct an exploratory study of tourists in two rural destinations in Spain and Portugal. The results suggest that image is the main correlate of perceived quality, satisfaction, trust and loyalty. Quality also seems to affect positively on satisfaction and loyalty, whereas trust has a positive impact on loyalty. The article offers important information for rural tourism managers, helping them in developing effective relationship strategies.
