Abstract:The use of debit cards over credit cards has increased in popularity as a means of financial self-discipline according to recent financial industry data. At first glance reduced use of credit cards might seem like an effective means to control one's spending, if one was to believe prior research. But as with credit cards, exposure to debit card logos increases willingness to spend. The article attempts to serve as an eye-opener to consumers.
