Abstract: | The fact that Internet is increasingly incorporated in everyday life turns out from this article. Belonging to a residential community, Internet is associated with civic participation. Internet is desengaged from communication environments in Asian and Latino areas, because it is associated with mainstream media. In those Asian and Latino countries InternetĀ“s contribution is contradictonary. Internet probably contributes to the process of ethnic assimilation and might lead to disengagements from neighborhoods in Asian and Latino countries. The authorĀ“s propose "magnifying glass effect", which tries to explain the different integration of new media in community life. |
