Abstract:The scenario planning process needs more than technical excellence; it must also build commitment by taking heed of the politics and culture inside the company. To develop strong commitment to particular strategies, the scenario planning activity must: be geared to assemble and use the information residing in the collective wisdom of the organization; provide a medium for choosing risk/return preferences with which the organization is politically and culturally comfortable; provide a medium for the choice of sensible hedging strategies; be designed to keep confusion at bay by focusing attention only on core issues.
