| Abstract: | The success of foreign-owned manufacturing businesses in the UK demonstrates that the barriers to achieving world class competitiveness can be overcome. This article describes a methodology to facilitate the strategic management of manufacturing. This function is often claimed as a major cause of an organization's inability to increase its competitiveness. The methodology is the product of a study of 12 manufacturing businesses in the UK which had to change to survive. It is a procedure to simplify the process of strategic manufacturing management. |
