| Abstract: | Consumer spending should continue to support economic activity in 1998, albeit at less significant rate than in 1997. Private consumption is forecast to rise by about 3.7% in 1998 and by 1.9% in 1999. Medium term growth will remain healthy but significantly lower than during the 1980s boom. |
