Abstract:Quick and if possible harmonic integration of new employees into the enterprise is one of the typical tasks of managers. The direct superior of the new employees have a key role in the process: he is really an agent of socialization. His personal qualifications have a major impact on the success of the integration. In the first part of the article the theory of roles is used to describe problems associated with the integration process. Ambiguity of roles and different forms of role conflicts are identified as typical phenomena of the process. A cooperative style of management with structured elements is described as the most suitable for the successful integration.
