Abstract: | The authors of this paper analyze the labor market situation in the European Monetary Union (EMU) area and answer the question whether the economic growth can bring about a deceive improvement in the labor market situation. The article considers countries where employment growth was strong. The authors also provide the information on the total working hours in several countries and discuss the employment-intensity of economic growth. The paper introduces the comparison between the changes in the elasticity of the volume of working hours in the EMU and in the United States. The article also provides a great number of graphs, tables and figures on this subject. |
