Abstract:Over recent years a number of British local authorities have sought to increase employment by the provision of industrial premises of various sorts. The firms occupying public sector premises are typically small. The number and type of jobs created. As a survey indicated,over 70% of the total work force were male,the vast majority of full-time worker. The majority of employment is in the manual occupations. The managerial and clerical occupations account for an average of just over 1.5 workers per firm. Improved employment opportunities for the unemployed,the school-leavers and the previously employed workers were observed.
