Abstract:Lifestyles of the poor and homeless revolve around day-to-day survival, not 9-to-5 routines. These men and women lack skills and experience, and they are ill-equipped for employment. However, despite the obstacles, they can make valuable employees. Job training programs for the homeless get established in places where homelessness and unemployment are prevalent. Such example is Dallas, Texas, but New York City also boasts its share of innovative job training programs. The Hope program is a comprehensive 14-week course. In a sense, homeless people resemble immigrants transported to a totally different culture, and they should be handled accordingly.
