Abstract: | Once viewed as a niche product, the fault-tolerant system now has a more general appeal - it's cheaper, for a start. The more useful computers become, the more we miss them when they are not there. Users needing a high degree of resilience no longer have to settle for a proprietory architecture and operating system. If a system has parallel processors for resience purposes, so long as all are working normally they can all be doing their own, useful work. |
