| Abstract: | Imagine a microwave oven that automatically sets the correct cooking time for the type of food you put into it, or a washing machine that tells you when you've used too much detergent. It may sound futuristic, but these are just two examples of a new generation of domestic appliances that think for themselves. What is more, many of them can be found in a high street near you. These so-called smart appliances are designed to take the hassle out of using devices that are becoming increasingly complex and more difficult to operate in the home. |
