Abstract: | Competition implies that customers have the choice of acquiring the same from many sources. This is the case in a business like steel where the end product is semi-finished and therefore susceptible to competition. And this is exactly what happened to the steel industry in America, a decade ago. The steel workers and management had a careless confidence that there would be buyers because it was made in the USA. As India's economy is opened to global competition, how can a giant like Tata Steel Company adapt quickly enough to survive? |
