Abstract:Value for money is becoming the business strategy for corporate success. Its strength lies in the combining of the generic strategies identified by Porter, yet in contrast to Porter, its advice is to be 'stuck in the middle'. The paper gives an outline of the literature on strategy, and addresses relevant concepts. It proposes a model to explain the nature of the strategy saturation point and its importance with regard to value for money. It describes the trends that have changed business fundamentals and consequently the need to adopt a multigeneric strategy.
