Abstract:In the 1960's and 1970's, corporations were in a state of denial about their impact on the environment, but today many companies have accepted their responsibility to prevent pollution. What they need to do now, according to the author, is to help create a sustainable global economy: an economy that the planet is capable of supporting indefinitely. In this article he demonstrates that the drive toward sustainability is an absolute imperative for human survival. It also represents one of the biggest challenges and opportunities for individual companies in the history of commerce.
