Abstract: | Systematic studies show that family-owned businesses (FOBs) surpass their public counterparts on many dimensions of performance. The authors of this article argue that this is because of strategic advantages that family businesses have, not despite but because of their family management and ownership. The family enterprise, the authors believe, enjoys advantages of both adaptability and continuity, and internal cohesiveness as well as external connection. |
