Abstract:An executive development program is described which integrates management education, team building, organizational learning, and change with the concepts and practices of strategy formulation and implementation. A case history is presented to show how this program helped one company's executives effectively develop and implement strategy. Some learning concepts are discussed. The overprotective and antilearning character of organizational defensive routines is demonstrated. Technical and human theories of control are reviewed and compared. Several observations about the program's effectiveness are made.
