Abstract:Three main ingredients are necessary to structure an intelligence program. A successful intelligence effort is built on the company's existing information needs and resources and not some ideal textbook model. The corporation must allow those involved in the intelligence effort time to nurture and analyze the data. Finally, management must give its staff the knowledge to use this intelligence effectively. If the needs of the organization have been identified and time has been given to spread the awareness of needed information, management will see the return on investment in the form of new clients, strategic insight and market victory.
