Abstract:High principles are not just good for the soul; they have significant bottom line implications. But people in organisations are under constant pressure through intense competition, demands to improve performance, and short- termism to compromise their consciences. A spoonful of malpractice makes the profits go down, as many companies have discovered. Nike, Shell, Coca-Cola and Barclays Bank have all suffered from disregarding ethics and social responsibilities.
