| Abstract: | The paper addresses the question should an industry-wide union in a unionized oligopoly negotiate new contracts by bargaining with firms simultaneously, or should is 'strategically sequence' its bargaining partners? There are two models: the efficient bargaining model, and the right-to-manage model, in which negotiations are over wages alone, with firms choosing their employment levels after the wage agreements are reached. |
