| Abstract: | Based on postal questionnaire survey of managers and interview data, this paper investigates the reasons behind firms' decisions of employing school leavers aged 16 and 17, the type of jobs they are considered for, and the pay and training they can obtain. The sectors considered are manufacturing, hospitality, construction, hairdressing and retail. |
