| Abstract: | The paper introduces a simple and computationally efficient heuristic algorithm for the capacitated lot sizing problem (CLSP), the single machine lot-sizing problems, with nonstationary costs, demands and setup times/costs. A variant of the algorithm can solve problems when limited amounts of costly overtime is allowed. Experimental results show that the most important determinants of the solution quality are the levels of setup costs relative to holding costs. The size of the problem is determined by the number of items. |
