Abstract:A discussion of legal problems that could involve controllers, with the author citing legal cases, whether attempts to cover-up are of assistance, the Maury case, SEC standards, and the importance of the foresight of hindsight. The author cautions controllers not to give in to pressure from superiors to misstate the facts, for a SEC investigation could end with a closed private investigative file or an indictment, and the finding of dishonesty could make it difficult to gain a new job.
