| Abstract: | In January 1988, Australian Government reduced the amount of welfare benefits paid to unemployed 16-and 17 -year-olds, which increased the interest in studying association between income and psychological health. The results indicate that financial strain mediates the effect of low incomes on psychological health, activity levels, and commitment to obtaining employment. |
