| Abstract: | The so called CAI (computer integrated industry) concept of the Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG is described. The difference between CIM and CAI is that the latter integrates trade and marketing units and the suppliers too in addition to the fields which are integrated in the CIM concept. Every functional unit of the company is integrated through a company-wide logical data system. The objective is to reduce time of every operation and the quantity of resources used for production. In the article an important unit of the system, Bora-X, is described in detail. Bora-X is a workshop controlling system. |
