| Abstract: | A decade ago, manufacturing planning focused on materials. Today, the emphasis is on time. The ability to speed up the supply chain process, from customer demand to manufacturing to distribution, is now a major source of competitive advantage. For manufacturers with big investments in MRP-II and ERP systems the prospect of reengineering versus losing out to more agile competitors has left them facing difficult decisions. Open systems and 'best of breed' solutions offer real alternatives to organizations willing to believe that reengineering efforts should offer more than a view of a demolition. |
