Abstract:This report analyses the market for tobacco in France. Cigarettes are the most popular products, but increasing prices are making products in cheapers sectors more attractive. Cigarettes represent 92.8% of the market by value in 1997. Smoking tobacco saw the most impressive growth of the rview period, seeing a 65.8% value increase. Sales in all sectors amounted to FF76.2 billion in 1997, representing growth of 34.6% over the course of review period. The cigarette sector is expected to lose market share to remaining sectors, and real value growth of 26.2% from 1997 to 2002 is forecasted.
