Abstract: | With the development of Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems (CIMS), a new class of production processes is being created. The main benefits are flexibility, rapid response greater control, greater predictability, reduced work-in-process and distributed data processing capability. CIMS is likely to be suitable for markets where the overall demand for a range of product is high as it lowers in progress which reduces costs. Tensions between manufacturing and marketing management should be reduced. |
