Abstract:Strategy workshops are one of the best ways to learn the skills of working as a team. A good deal of energy is sometimes wasted by people pulling in opposite directions because they do not have any clear sense of the common goals. Suggestions are made how to use conflicts positively. In the workshop the facilitator has a crucial role. He or she can teach specific skills such as active listening: how to accept criticism without getting defensive, how to give feedback to others in constructive ways. Teaching the group how to handle conflict is the facilitator's most valuable contribution. Once the emotional tension has subsided, it can have a unifying effect upon a group.
