| Abstract: | This article follows Manne (1966, Insider trading and the stock market (New York, Free Press)) when it separates insider trading and market manipulation from corporate insiders and misappropriators. From there it is possible to derive four types of alleged inside transactions. Referring comprehensively to the economic literature on inside transactions, the authors argue that the various arguments presented against inside transactions type II, III and IV do not automatically hold for the first type of transactions. |
