Abstract:A review of how the threat of more arrests connected with insider trading in the U.S. has made arbitragers very cautious about investing heavily in the takeover business. Investment banks have tightened their internal surveillance measures and how without adequate information risk arbitragers are unable to effectively analyze stocks. The analysis stresses that although the law forbids information gathering, this is too prohibitive.
