Abstract: | The article discusses a series of steps allowing companies to realize the benefits of using non-financial performance measurements. The research reveals a number of common mistakes companies make when trying to measure non-financial performance. Among these mistakes: companies set the wrong performance targets, and they use metrics lacking strong statistical validity and reliability. As a result, the companies can't demonstrate that improvements in nonfinancial measures actually affect their financial results. The article lays out a series of steps allowing companies to realize the genuine promise of nonfinancial performance measures. |
