Abstract:The profitability of service offerings by small and medium sized (SMEs) industrial firms is discussed in this paper. Presented are the results of a field study of six industrial SMEs, highlighting the heterogeneity of their policies and practices as to the pricing and costing of their service offers. Presented are also the conditions and actions required to make services actually profitable for manufacturing companies.
