Abstract: | This study explores the impact of research and development (R&D) intensity on corporate social responsibility (CSR), based on the resource-based view (RBV) theory. Both R&D and CSR activities can create assets providing firms with competitive advantage. As expressions of CSR and R&D vary over industries, the study is extended by analysing the impact of R&D intensity on CSR across both manufacturing and non-manufacturing industries. It is shown that R&D intensity positively affects CSR. This relationship is notable in manufacturing industries, whereas a non-significant result comes from non-manufacturing industries. |
