Abstract:This year, the supply and demand situation has changed significantly due to government's entire prohibition of felling natural forest in key areas, significant reduction of timber output as well as government's demand of speeding up the construction of residence and infrastructure. The insufficiency of timber resources has been intensified. The amount of demand and price are on a rise. It is estimated that the China's aggregate demand for timber will reach 110 million cubic meter. The prohibition of felling forest will impose influences on industries concerned. The market of paper industry will pick up and prices for furniture are doomed to rise, while timber consumption in such industries as construction and coal will decrease year by year.
