| Abstract: | The market for beer in the Netherlands consists very largely of Dutch Pils-type beers, which account for 87% of total sales by volume. Volume sales of beer increased by 11.4% over the 1988-1992 period to reach 13.7 million hectolitres. There are only 13 breweries and a few small craft brewers although the Dutch market is the largest one by volume in the Benelux. Heineken dominates the beer market and multinational brewers have expanded via acquisitions and licensing agreements. |
