Abstract:The conclusions of a detailed study of management methods used in breweries, distillers, maltings and dairies, and their relative effectiveness in achieving significant savings are reported. The significance of both size of the organization and its use of energy cost-centres, targetting, monitoring and specific energy variances to the achievement of substantial energy cost saving is assassed. The results of the study are presented and the variety of energy management approaches in all four sectors is classified into three broad categories.
