Abstract: | The birth, growth and subsequent decline of Asahi Brewery is described up to the appointment of a new president and the introduction of a new management concept of the company. Stagnation in the corporate culture accelerated the fall in market share. A new corporate strategy was initiated by the new president, placing emphasis on manufacturing consumer-oriented products and on creating positive work environment through the distribution of the corporate credo and a code of behaviour to all employees, and implementing a program of retreats for managers. Change in the organizational structure resulted in enhancing strategic capabilities. The rapid expansion in market share brought about a change in employee attitude. |
