| Abstract: | Supply chain consciousness and supply chain issues have recently accelerated up the corporate agenda and are now frequently treated as matters of strategic concern. But, despite the massive increase in attention paid to the phenomenon, few treatments of this now popular subject identify what the key issues and implications are for general and line managers. The aim of this paper is to help remedy this area of neglect. It draws upon a wide literature analysis and an initial round of interviews conducted as part of a three year study of Supply Chain Management (SCM). This article identifies key management issues and begins the task of clarifying the associated managerial capabilities that are required. |
