Abstract:Consumption of whisky is highly seasonal , being markedly greater in the winter than in the summer and peaking in the Christmas period. During recent ten years the fundamental changes in ownership have led to a more concentrated industry. The leading force in the industry is Guinness, which has clear market leadership in the UK and an even greater lead on its rivals worldwide. By a clear margin the leading branded supplier is United Distiller (Guinness), whose brands give it a share of 26%. The detailed statistics on consumption patterns, suppliers and brands, distribution network, prices and margins, advertising and promotion are given.
