Abstract:Animated cartoons are an independent art with a specific language which at least in one respect is opposed to the language of photographic cinematography. While motion is a feature of photography which is a direct mirror of nature, drawing is an image of image and putting it to motion doubles its illusory force. This makes the language of animated cartoons particularly suitable for transmission of various shades of irony and humour. Text in text and the trend of doubling semiotic systems in contemporary art opens new prospects before animated cartoons, too.
