| Abstract: | This fifth annual JMIS special section on strategic and competitive information systems reflects increasing interest in the information technology (IT) research community with what has been termed business reengineering: the "fundamental rethinking and radical redesign of business processes to achieve dramatic improvements in critical, contemporary measures of performance. While it is clear that IT can have a significant impact on reengineering efforts, it is also clear that not all reengineering efforts have the same level of potential benefits. |
