Abstract: | The investment picture is shaped by a boom in cross-border deals and in U.S. mergers and acquisitions. Nowhere was this more apparent than in the healthcare sector, where a series of strategic moves involving SmithKline Beecham, Roche, Sandoz, Cibe0Giegy and Elf Sanifi materially changed the pecking order in the U.S. market place. A dwindling number of bid targets - coupled with the decision of Eastman Kodak to quit the sector - lent a sense of urgency to the deal-making process. |
