Abstract:The most promising policies for operating an automated warehouse are the-class-based storage policies. Under a class-based storage policy, the warehouse is divided into areas and the number of items in the warehouse is divided into the same number of groups. These groups of items are assigned to the various areas, based on their demand. This paper studies a two-class-based rectangular in time ASRS. It presents formulas for the optimal boundary of the storage areas as well as for the expected single command cycle time for an optimally designed rack.
