Abstract:At present, China's demand for consumption is in a stage of moderately steady growth, which is different both from the period of abnormal great demand in the first 10 years since reform and from the stage of apparently insufficient demand from 1989 to 1991. In 1997, demand for consumption would not increase, by a large margin. But it is estimated that demand for consumption will grow greater than 1996 due to various factors and present a situation of tending to be great within stability. The 1997's consumption growth will make full preparation for the second consumption revolution or the arrival of a new high tide of consumption.
